Ideas for resurrection of liberal democracy, as an antidote to authoritarian corruption and incompetence.

Feast Your Eyes: Food in Art

With ravishing details that span the symbolic to the social, discussions center on an array of ‘isms, media, and scale that dramatically connects our understanding of eating rituals from the past to the present. Instructor: Lynn Berkowitz, MFA, BFA, with a career in art museums, has developed an array of award-winning gallery tours, experiences, and apps aimed at helping audiences of all ages and abilities engage with a diversity of artists, ‘isms, and approaches.
The Sun Records Story

A look back at the legendary studio where such artists as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins got their start. The little Memphis Recording Studio became Sun Records and with it, changed music forever. Have a look at the beginnings of rock and roll, and enjoy the sounds of long ago.
Instructor: Larry Lefkowitz was a technical writer and editor for 40+ years. He also freelanced as a writer for a variety of print and online magazines. In retirement, he currently hosts a music program on an Internet radio station.

This class begins with A Philosophy of Lying and then turns to Friedrich Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra (Kaufmann translation), a profound social, religious, and philosophical critique. We’ll explore Nietzsche’s vision of the “Will to Power” through the journey of Zarathustra, a prophet confronting a world that rejects him.
Instructor: Michael Heinsdorf, BA (Muhlenberg College, University of Goettingen) MDiv, STM, MA, is an ordained clergyman, former German instructor at Northeast High School and adjunct at LaSalle University. His focus is on a contemporary religious paradigm for our time.
