Philosophy in Today's World

with Michael Heinsdorf

Free

*6 WEEKS: 9/12-10/31*

*NO CLASS ON 9/19 & 10/17*

Is lying a habit, a pathology, or a form of manipulation? This class begins with A Philosophy of Lying and then turns to Friedrich Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra (Kaufmann translation), a profound social, religious, and philosophical critique. We’ll explore Nietzsche’s vision of the “Will to Power” through the journey of Zarathustra, a prophet confronting a world that rejects him.

Instructor: Michael Heinsdorf, BA (Muhlenberg College, University of Goettingen) MDiv, STM, MA, is an ordained clergyman, former German instructor at Northeast High School and adjunct at LaSalle University. His focus is on a contemporary religious paradigm for our time.
